Statement

Discovering macro-photography in the late 80’s, greatly changed the focus and direction of my love affair with photography. The ability to see things that were not visible to the naked eye changed my life forever. Beyond getting close, my curiosity has led me to photograph such varied subjects as the trapped air bubbles in icicles, the patterns of snow flakes and the eyes of insects. Greatly influenced by Asian art and mathematics, some of my abstract tree creations help me express my fascination with the wonders of the nature in artistic ways. Like the artist that is driven to paint, I have to be outside and I have to capture what I see from sunrise to sunset.    ~~~Mary F. Karam
